“Arctic Kingdom used the Utilis Tents for a large film crew based on a small island half way between Devon Island and Ellesmere Island in the middle of Jones Sound, the next passageway above the Northwest Passage. The camp operated from early May into the middle of June and was in a picturesque bay where four glaciers descended from a huge icecap above with a clear view of the open ocean looking out towards Greenland. Despite better than average weather for the arctic in spring, a tumultuous time as seasons change, the location was especially challenging as fierce blasts of wind would come howling down the glaciers and come crashing through the camp. Such blasts of wind were clocked at over 100mph and equivalent to hurricane strength winds. The Utilis tents were used to hold some of the most technologically advanced film cameras in the world. The cameras were worth millions and in fact the entire cost of the shoot would be lost should the very sensitive equipment not be protected from some of the harshest conditions on earth. The black out nature of the Utilis tent made setting sensitive color correction monitors to review film footage possible. The tents were anchored to fuel drums and withstood the most punishing wind storms and blasts. The tent was also used as a movie theatre to show select clips taken of breathtaking wildlife captured on the shoot and previous years. The Utilis Tents were easier to set up than other tents of equivalent size and proved their ability as a valuable piece of our gear on the top of the world. Having worked closely with Utilis over the past year, it is also evident that their team takes great pride in their product and strives to constantly improve it by listening to and incorporating enhancements from feedback from the field whether from the hot deserts of the middle east to the cold deserts of the arctic.”
